A tiny newborn baby was miraculously found alive with his umbilical cord still attached after being dumped in a garbage bin.
According to GMA News, the baby was discovered by a passerby named Sean Raven Casimsiman around 5 a.m. on Tuesday.
Casimsiman later told investigators that he heard a noise that sounded like a baby crying near a pile of garbage as he was walking down the street.
When Casimsiman went to investigate the chilling noise, he was stunned to discover a newborn baby wrapped in a plastic garbage bag inside the trash pile.
Although the baby was covered in blood and still had his umbilical attached, he was alive.
Without a moment of hesitation, Casimsiman yelled for help and rushed the baby to Caloocan City Medical Center.
The shocking incident was later reported to police, who immediately set out to search for the abandoned baby’s mother.
According to GMA News, while the baby is said to be in good condition, he had to be treated with antibiotics after being exposed to dirt and trash during the first few hours of his life.
The baby will reportedly spend the next seven days in the hospital before being taken into custody by the City Social Welfare Department of Caloocan City Hall.
Though it is still early in the investigation, authorities say the parents of “Baby Boy X” will likely face charges for abandoning their child in such a disgusting area.
Sadly, this is not the first time a newborn baby has been abandoned and left for dead by their parents.
Earlier this year, a newborn baby girl was found covered in ants outside of an apartment complex in Texas.
North Harris County Police later revealed that the baby was found in August by a neighbor, who was on his way to work at the time.
“He heard a murmur and a cry, what he thought was actually a cat,” Harris County Deputy Thomas Gilliland told reporters. “He looked inside the bushes of the flower bed and found the newborn baby.”
Just like in the case of the baby boy found in the trash, this baby girl also had her umbilical cord attached when she was found.
At the time of the incident, which made headlines all over the country, neighbors were beyond shocked, as there was a hospital right down the street.
“I’m in shock,” resident Roger Coreas told KPRC. “There’s a hospital, not even a block down the road.”
In that case, authorities eventually tracked down the baby’s 21-year-old mother, who confessed to giving birth in her apartment before abandoning the child outside.
“Had this neighbor not been here, we’d be looking at a homicide,” Gilliland told reporters. “It’s a miracle the child was found.”
