The future is nigh, and so is the possibility of having a robot companion instead of a real-life woman for the rest of your life. A company based out of California is currently working on a series of sex robots that will be so realistic that they’ll even orgasm during sex. Customers will also be able to customize the dolls so that they are the “perfect” woman they’ve always dreamed of having. Keep reading to get a look inside the somewhat creepy factory where these robots are made.
Sex robots. Matt McMullen is the man behind Realbotix, the sex robot factory in California that produces eerily lifelike sex robots, which can cost over $15,000. The sex doll industry has been booming over the last several years as technological advancements allow for their creators to make them as human-like as possible.
Personalities. These sex robots are so advanced that they have their own personalities and can even orgasm during sex. According to the Sun UK, one of the dolls, named Harmony, even has the capabilities of remembering some of your favorite foods, movies, and can even tell you a joke.
Customize. Once a customer has purchased a doll, they’re able to choose one of 18 personalities for their robotic companion to have. These personalities include shy, jealous, and sensual.
Characteristics. The dolls also come in different skin tones, different eye colors, haircuts, and some are even created to be male dolls. Their silicone “skin” is supposed to resemble that of actual human skin, which as creepy as it sounds, is supposed to feel better to the touch.
Sophisticated. “The whole idea of a sex-capable robot is very contemporary, now and edgy. I get that. But Harmony is a sophisticated piece of machinery and her primary design is to carry on conversations,” said McMullen, as reported by the Sun UK.
Concerns. While these sex robots sound like the ideal companion, some are concerned that they will one day be so technologically advanced that they could learn to think on their own. Others however, are more worried that these dolls are only further serving to objectify women.
Companions. McMullen however, says otherwise and shut down these concerns by saying the dolls aren’t meant to replace women all together, and are simply supposed to be “friendly companions.” He also doesn’t think people should feel guilty for having sex with the dolls, because they don’t have the capability to feel anything.
Rights. “This is not designed to replace anyone or promote the objectification of women. Robots don’t have rights. Should my toaster be able to refuse to toast my bread? Should my Tesla be able to refuse to drive me to work every morning?” said McMullen, as reported by the Sun UK.
Normal. The dolls are available for purchase now, and some of these buyers are even going as far as to marry their sex dolls. According to experts however, this may not be so strange just a few years down the road, where sex dolls will become more and more common.
Advancements. “We have already seen rapid changes in human relationships thanks to the internet, mobile devices and social media. The next major advance will enable us to use our technology to have intimate encounters with the technology itself – to fall in love with the technology, to have sex with robots and to marry them,” said author David Levy, as reported by the Sun UK.
Not lonely. These dolls have allowed lonely men all over the world to feel less alone now that they have these robots to keep them company. The company who makes these sex robots claims they’ve already heard back from satisfied customers who claim the dolls have changed their lives for the better.
Impact. “While we believe we provide a product that has many applications we are sometimes astounded at the impact we make on some customer’s lives. We have had customers marry their dolls, say that we had saved their lives because they felt like they had nothing to live for after the death of a spouse or the end of a relationship,” a spokesperson for the company told the Sun UK.
Disaster. Other experts are more concerned that these robots could lead people to cut off complete communication with humans, thus turning them into psychopaths. To them, the arrival of sex robots in the mainstream is a recipe for disaster.
Disorders. “Sex with a robot is just a fake imitation. And it can lead to psychopathic disorders and isolation. Sex with robots won’t bring into a person’s life the emotion effect that gives us a true communion. You can eat pseudo-food to still hunger. But over time it will still end badly,” said expert Lev Shcheglov, as reported by the Sun UK.
