In December 2022, it came out that Sharon Stone, an actress from Hollywood, had “adopted” a fourth child. It turned out to be one of her three adopted sons’ best friends. The boy was all by himself after his father died of a disease. Here are the details of this touching story, and we also find out how Stone is doing as a new mom.
Sharon Stone has been engaged and married twice. Phil Bronstein, the executive editor of The San Francisco Examiner, was her second husband. Her first husband was TV producer Michael Greenburg.
During her second marriage, the actress lost many babies. In total, Stone lost nine babies. It turned out that the actress couldn’t have a baby because she had an autoimmune disease and endometriosis. Sharon could never have her own biological children because of this. In 2000, she and her husband, Bronstein, adopted Roan Joseph when he was only a week old.
Sharon realized after her miscarriage that the only way she was going to have a child was through adoption. She was on her way home when it happened. Sharon got a call from an adoption lawyer who told her he had a client who was going to have a boy soon.
Would I be his mother?
she asked herself.
I felt as if God was throwing me a life raft. From the moment I held him, I was in awe. I sat by his bassinet through the night just to watch him sleep.
The actress said that becoming a mother taught her a lot about who she was. She said that sharing every part of her life with her son made everything more magical.
I remember lifting him up to a flower, and saying that I cannot tell you how long I have waited for you to get here so that I could show you this.
Stone said when Roan was a baby that she didn’t see a difference between having a baby naturally and adopting one because she worries about and cares for her son just as much as a first-time mother would. Stone also said that she knows what her baby wants because she understands what he says.
But in 2003, the actress’ husband asked for a divorce, saying that they couldn’t work things out. The court also said that Bronstein would have primary custody of Roan. This decision broke the actress’s heart. She recalled,
I couldn’t focus on anything but having my son back in my arms. Nothing else mattered, just getting him back.
After that, the fight over who got custody went on for another 13 years.
After her marriage ended, Sharon decided to focus on being a mother. The next year, she took in another boy, Laird Vonne, who was only a few months old. And in 2006, Quinn Kelly was also less than a year old, the actress took him in.
This was my first day with 3 kids as a single mom.
Soon after adopting Laird, the actress talked about how she was doing as a single mother:
I multitask. I have more love, help, friendship, and kindness than at any other time in my life.
Sharon Stone has two sons, and she often posts pictures of them on social media. Roan came back to live with her in 2017 as well. Since then, all three boys have been living with the woman who adopted them.
In December 2022, it came out that the actress, who was 64 at the time, had taken in a fourth boy. It turned out to be the best friend of her son Roan. Stone recently talked about it at a film festival, which is how the news got out:
My oldest boy’s very best friend, from when he was little, had a single parent — who had Parkinson’s — and who he took care of for 12 years until his father died. And so he was suddenly alone, and I took him in. So now I have four boys.
About a year ago, it happened, but she didn’t tell anyone. Now, they all live in the actress’s big house as a family. Sharon Stone calls him her “adopted son,” but it’s not clear if she’s made it official.
Sharon Stone said the following in one of her interviews:
I’m loving raising my kids. I’ve made humanitarian causes and my children much more my priority than the Hollywood scene, being liked, and getting movie parts. Motherhood didn’t come easily. It came lovingly to me by angels. We’re a happy and lucky family.
