Parents always have a mix of fun and trouble when they have kids, and it’s hard to deny that these little copies of us bring us so many feelings. But think about having not one, not two, not even five, but twelve children. This can make the life of any parent a very hard journey. Our main character in this story has twelve children, and here’s how she and her husband take care of their big, happy family and manage to stay sane for so long.
The couple didn’t plan to have so many kids at first.
Courtney Rogers, who is 38 years old and lives in New Mexico, and her husband, Chris, had a baby girl named Cambria, making her their most-recent child. This also made their total number of children 12, which is the “magic number.”
Courtney is a supermom who has had 12 kids in 12 years. After giving birth to her last child, she turned her family into a real-life version of the family from the movie Cheaper by the Dozen.
The happy parents said that when they first decided to start a family, they never thought they would have so many kids. When they first tried to get pregnant, they even lost the baby, but now they have a perfect family.
This family has 12 children, and all of them are special to their parents.
Clint, the couple’s oldest son, was born on March 30, 2010. This was right before they had five more boys and then six girls.
It is amazing how it worked out too because we had all our boys at the beginning and the last 5 have been girls, so it all evened out,
Courtney said in an interview.
Each child is a new chapter in happy parents’ lives. Courtney revealed,
Clint was born 3 weeks before I turned 26 but, back then, I had no clue that I would have more children. I thought I was too old at 26 and I didn’t know they would come so fast, plus include a set of twins. Then we said we would have 10 children maximum, but I still felt young and healthy enough, so we pushed it to 12.
The big family is now having the best life they can with each other.
Clint, 12; Clay, 10; Cade, 9; Callie, 8; Cash, 7; twins Colt and Case, 6; Calena, 4; Caydie, 3; Coralee, 2; Caris, 1; and now the couple’s new baby, Cambria.
Even though the family has 12 children, they also live on a farm and have more than 200 animals, such as pigs, sheep, and chickens. All of the children are taught from a young age to take care of their animals and to be responsible.
Now that Courtney and Chris have 12 kids under 12 years old, they are all about their family. They are always busy making plans for how to handle such a big group.
A normal day at home seems like a small lifetime.
At 8 a.m., the Rogers family eats a big breakfast, and then the kids have math and art lessons.
Around 11:30 a.m., it’s time for lunch. Courtney feeds the little ones with sandwiches and puts them to sleep while the older kids make their own food. The kids have language class, art class, and reading time in the afternoon. Sometimes they also have Zoom piano lessons. Then, at 5 p.m., the supermom makes her family a huge dinner.
Every day, the family eats a full box of cereal for breakfast and 24 eggs for dinner. Courtney not only teaches the kids, but she also cleans the house before putting them to bed at 8:30 p.m.
Courtney talks about how she saves money for her family.
The happy, big family stays together because their mom is good at making a budget. She even has a plan called “No Spend January” that says the family can’t buy anything but basic groceries for the month. The family also has a rule that says they can’t eat out or order takeout. They also can’t rent movies or buy anything fun.
When Courtney does have to go to the store, she does “Meatless Mondays” and cooks cheaper vegetarian meals for her growing family. The family isn’t rich, but the mom’s clever ways of saving money help them get by. Even better, the kind family can still help other people who are in need.
At Christmas, the Rogers family even let strangers eat a delicious home-cooked meal with them.
How many children does your family have? Do you wish to have more? Could you take care of 12 kids by yourself?
