Jennifer Lawrence Confesses Being Frustrated Over Being Paid $5 Million Less Than Leonardo DiCaprio for “Don’t Look Up”

Even though it’s been more than a year since “Don’t Look Up” came out on Netflix and caused a lot of controversies, the gender pay gap is still a big topic of conversation in Hollywood. For example, one of the film’s main stars, Jennifer Lawrence, recently spoke out about how frustrated she was to be paid $5 million less than her co-star Leonardo DiCaprio.

Now, some of you might think that it’s a bit strange for well-paid actors to talk about pay.

But the Hunger Games star admitted that even though actors are paid too much, the difference is part of a bigger problem.

Adam McKay’s comedy film starred Jen and Leo as two scientists who try desperately to warn the world about an approaching comet that will kill everyone.

But according to an article about the salaries of the biggest movie stars, Lawrence made $25 million for the Netflix movie and DiCaprio made $30 million, even though Lawrence was the movie’s main star.

In an interview for the October 2022 issue of Vogue, Jennifer Lawrence talked about the issue and said that the difference in pay was “bothersome.”

She said:

It doesn’t matter how much I do. I’m still not going to get paid as much as that guy, because of my vagina?

And this isn’t the first time Jennifer Lawrence’s pay has been much lower than that of her male co-stars.

In 2014, hackers broke into Sony Pictures computers, and it turned out that Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper were paid more for the movie American Hustle than she and Amy Adams.

When word got out about the pay gap at the time, Jennifer Lawrence wrote an essay in which she said:

When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky people with d**ks, I didn’t get mad at Sony. I got mad at myself.

Jennifer Lawrence also talked about the rumors that she had slept with Harvey Weinstein in another part of her interview with Vogue.

After being found guilty of rape and sexual assault, Weinstein, who made the movie The Silver Linings Playbook, is now serving a 23-year prison sentence.

Hundreds of women have come forward to say bad things about him. Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Beckinsale, and Cara Delevingne were a few of them.

In a lawsuit filed against the producer in 2018, Weinstein was said to have bragged about sleeping with Jennifer Lawrence, saying:

I slept with Jennifer Lawrence and look where she is; she has just won an Oscar.

At the time, Jennifer Lawrence flatly denied the claims, and she made sure to do so again during a round of 73 Questions.

When asked what the most “strange” thing she had ever read about herself was, she said:

That I f***ed Harvey Weinstein.
