A mom recently caused controversy on the internet when she posted a video of her kids coloring in a cardboard box while she did housework.
Gabrielle Lynn Dunn saw a “mommy hack” on TikTok and decided to try it out. The hack involved putting her kids in an old cardboard box with a bunch of colored pencils so they could draw on the sides while she had some “alone time.”
The mom of two then shows in the video clip all the things she can do while they are playing in the box, like vacuuming the house.
Glad we didn’t break down that box yet,
she says to her 14.5 thousand followers.
Some people really liked the idea and even said that they had done something similar before.
Honestly some moms are so genius,
wrote one user.
Yeah but I might be that parent in the box with them lmao. What don’t judge me lmao,
another added.
A third made a joke about this idea being “outside the box.”
This person said that children are like pets:
Kids are similar to cats in this. Even my nephew prefers his cardboard box,
while someone else shared their own stories about boxes and crayons.
My mom did this with me and my sisters. the magic box was the best part of cleaning day,
they said.
But some people were not as impressed.
My 2 year old hated this.. he got so mad lol I even tried to make it into a house!
stated this user.
Someone else said that everything is fine as long as the kids don’t start eating the crayons.
Someone else criticized the mom for raising “future graffiti artists.”
Other people who use TikTok told the mom that it might encourage bad behavior.
Reinforces drawing on walls. RIP,
commented one user while another also had a similar response:
Am I the only one thinking this will have them coloring the walls by bedtime.
Do they not have a bedroom to play in?
Since then, about 10.8 million people have watched it.
How do you feel about the little “hack?”
