Recently, AT&T has launched an update for its software which displays a logo that apparently is a fake 5G logo. This act by AT&T has resulted into tricking of the customers as they now believe that they are connected to the network of the next generation wireless technology because of the fake logo.
With this fake logo, AT&T is trying to be overhasty.
The Fake 5G Logo
As confirmed by 9to5 Google, by far at least three phones, Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, LG V30 and LG V40, have received the update of 5G network with the fake 5G logo.
These fake logo actually displays “5G E.” This is in place of the “LTE” sign which appears at the top corner of the display of the customer when they are connected to the LTE network of AT&T.
According to the Verge, it is supposedly a part of the LTE network of AT&T that has received a speed bump.
The “E” in the Fake 5G logo
The fake logo of AT&T displays “5G E” which stands for “5G E.” This is what the company calls its new upgrade to the wireless network of AT&T. It is basically an advanced version of 4G LTE.
It is basically this evolution part that is supposed to convey the truth that the network is not really 5G. However, this logo does not convey that message very accurately.
Announcement regarding the Fake Logo
This fake logo of AT&T is not much of a surprise. The company had already made an announcement in December. It had said that it will be putting up a fake 5G icon on some of its smart-phones.
The major issue is that AT&T has adopted an unfair means so as to gain an edge over its competitors.
What reveals the fake 5G logo
Its evident that the 5G logo of AT&T is fake because the phones Galaxy S8, LG V40 and LG V30 are not even compatible with the 5G network.
So even if the customers are connected to 5G network, yet they wont be able to use it. This is because their phones aren’t compatible for it.
