Harrison Ford flew one of his fancy private jets into Los Angeles on Friday afternoon to celebrate the 58th birthday of his wife, Calista Flockhart. He did this so that he could have a big party to mark the event.
Right after landing, a veteran Hollywood leading man who is also a pilot could be seen sitting in the cockpit with his headset on and listening to the air traffic controller give directions for the final taxi across the runway.
Ford drove the jet to its designated parking spot, opened the door to the cabin, and helped Kay, the birthday girl’s mother, down the five steps and out of the plane when they got there.
The Citation Sovereign jet, which costs $18.8 million and has a top speed of 525 miles per hour and a range of 3,200 nautical miles, is Ford’s most prized possession. Ford was all smiles as he brought it into the hangar.
The actor then seemed to quickly check out the outside of the plane before opening the door to the cabin. He was the first family member to step back onto the ground.
The man, who was born and raised in Chicago, looked very handsome in dark blue jeans, a light blue dress shirt, and black sneakers.
Many people know Flockhart best for her role as Ally McBeal in the hit TV show from 1997 to 2002. She then got off the plane with one of the family dogs on a leash. The series ran from 1997 until 2002.
The actress took a laid-back approach to fashion, like her husband, because that’s how she wanted to dress. She wore worn-out black jeans, a gray sweater, and white retro Adidas sneakers.
She also had long, straight, dark brown hair that reached just past her shoulders and was split down the middle.
After a short time, Ford and Flockhart helped her mother, whose real name was Kay Calista, carefully walk down the steps from the jet to the ground.
It has come to light that the legendary actor stopped in Tennessee to pick up his mother-in-law on his way from New York to Los Angeles.
The town of Morristown, Tennessee, is about 225 miles east of the city of Nashville. Flockhart’s mother has lived there since she retired a long time ago.
It didn’t take long for an SUV to pull up next to the jet, and all three members of the Flockhart family quickly got inside. Then, supposedly to celebrate Flockhart’s 58th birthday, they left.
Ford started taking flying lessons in the 1960s and has been a pilot ever since. During his time as a pilot, he has been in a number of accidents and had a few scary close calls.
In 1999, he was on a routine training flight when the Long Ranger helicopter he was in crashed. Because of the crash, the plane came to a hard stop and landed on its side. The New York Times says that neither Ford nor the pilot instructor was hurt badly enough to need to go to the hospital.
In 2015, one of the plane’s engines broke down, forcing Ford’s plane from World War II to make an emergency landing on the Penmar Golf Course in Venice, California. He was hurt in many ways, including breaking his pelvis and ankle, among other things.
The next year, in 2017, Ford made the same mistake at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California, when it flew low over an airliner with 110 people on board while it was taxiing on a runway. According to The New York Times, he should have landed on a runway that runs in the opposite direction of the taxiway.
After that, Ford didn’t have to worry about any punishments, but the FAA did make him take a course on awareness.
More recently, in April 2020, the Hollywood legend was in an accident right after landing a single-engine plane at the Hawthorne Municipal Airport, which is outside of Los Angeles.
He did what he was told to do, but he misunderstood what an air traffic controller said over the radio and crossed a runway where another plane was landing.
Ford did admit his mistake when he was told off by aviation officials, even though there was no chance of a crash and no one was hurt because of what he did.
After meeting at the Golden Globe Awards in January 2002, Ford and Flockhart started dating quickly. They got married in June of the following year.
