One of the three major airports of the Tri-state area has reportedly been shut down in the Tri-State area on late Thursday night after an emergency due to electricity emergency which took place at an electrical substation of Con Edison. This blast has lit up the night sky of Queens as well as some of the areas of New York City.
The blast has blazed some of the areas of Big Apple later the incident spawned a frenzy of reaction on social media. The New York Police Department has revealed that a transformer has exploded at the facility of the utility of the company in Astoria shortly after 9 pm.
One woman said to the correspondence of CBS2, Jessica Layton that the explosion was similar to that of fire, a massive ball of fire. She explained the blast as one boom and then the sound as boom boom boom followed.
Another woman said that she was on her phone when the WiFi went down and then the entire building went black, and everyone started crowding around their building’s windows, and the woman saw a white-blue massive ball of light, and soon all of it went completely dark.
Bill de Blasio, the Mayor, has said to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority that nobody got affected by the blast; however, there were some extensive delays right along the seven line.
The residents took it to social media and posted the images of the sky across the city that was illuminated by the eerie blue-green light. Terence Monahan, the chief of the Department of New York Police said that there weren’t any injuries due to the explosion of a substation which is currently under an investigation by the official from Con Ed. Due to the explosion, LaGuardia was temporarily Shuttered.
One woman took things to Twitter and asked what was up with the bright blue light and the smoke which had lit the sky of New York City.
