One Piece by Eiichiro Oda is a long-running Shounen manga, which started in 1997 and holds the record of selling over 1 million copies from all of its published tankōbon volumes. The fan-following, the popularity, and One Piece topping all these charts precisely show how emotionally fans of all ages are connected to this series.
From one such emotional connection, a final plea from a One Piece Fan to author Eiichiro Oda has been made.
The Reddit User’s Final Plea For One Piece To Author Eiichiro Oda
Make-A-Wish week is approaching next week, and here is a request from a hardcore fan to Eiichiro Oda.
“I have terminal cancer. It started on my skin and then metastasized to my lymph nodes. I have about 4 months left, but next week make-a-wish is coming. I’m going to try to wish for the ending of one piece. I know oda’s story is going to be sailing without me, but I want to reach laugh tale too.”
Sadly, this fan has terminal cancer and only has four months to live, and wish to make it to the Laugh Tale if possible. It is indeed one of the most heartbreaking situations one can be in. In the post, many fans claimed that this request should be directly mailed to the author, as he reads a lot of fan mail. One such address is posted by one of the fans in the subreddit section.
Nakama! Please write to Oda sensei.

BOX 66 Shueisha JC ONE PIECE [SBS!] Note: Fans should bear in mind that it is best to send letters in Japanese if you send to the Tokyo address as mentioned by Oda in interviews.[/QUOTE]He reads a lot of fan letters. We will allbe here always for you! See you in laughtale brother!
One Piece has over a thousand chapters and episodes in both the manga and anime series. During the initial years of the series, Oda confirmed that it would last for at least 20 years, which he roughly estimated to be within 2022. In 2020, during the Wano Arc, he again predicted that he would wrap it up within 4-5 years, which means 2025 at the latest, and assured the fans that there would be engaging developments shortly.
“Things are heating up in the Wano Contry right now, but if Luffy can set sail from here safely, there will be developments on a global scale, a thrilling story the likes of which no one has ever read before, I’ll draw the ‘greatest battle ever’ in OP history, it will be exciting! In other words, I made such a statement so readers could be mentally prepared to understand that even a story as long as this one is properly heading towards its end. That said, for now just take your time and enjoy Wano while it’s hot. I’ll be drawing with all of my strength!”
Final Thoughts
One Piece ending is known to very few people, and that includes Eiichiro Oda himself, his editors, and probably his assistants. Only fans of One Piece know how special this series is to them and how long they have been waiting to reach the ending of One Piece. With 11 Sagas and over 30 story arcs, One Piece’s ending is undoubtedly a big deal to millions of fans, who have emotionally engaged with the series. While we don’t know what Eiichiro Oda’s response would be, we sincerely hope he recognizes this fan’s final request.
