In another tragic news, ABC News producer Dax Tejera passed away from a heart attack on Friday evening, December 23. Dax was only 37. He was the executive producer of “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” and was riding high in his career at a young age. Dax is survived by his wife Veronica Bautista Tejera and two daughters. Moreover, he joined ABC News in 2017. Surprisingly, he was named the EP of “This Week” at only 35 years old.
ABC News president Kim Godwin wrote a message to staffers. She said, “It’s with a heavy heart and great sadness that we share that our friend and colleague, Dax Tejera passed away suddenly of a heart attack last night.” She continued, “As EP of ‘This Week with George Stephanopoulos’ Dax’s energy, passion and love for that show, ABC News, and you, shined every Sunday morning. That same love was extended to his precious girls. Our thoughts are with his wife, Veronica, the couple’s two young daughters, and the entire Tejera family.”
ABC mourns death of Dax Tejera
Rachel Scott reported for ABC News on Saturday, “This Week’ co-anchor Jonathan Karl sharing that Dax adored his family and he loved his work. His passing has left us shocked and hurt.” Another one to remember Daj was ABC correspondent Jim Avila. He tweeted, “Sad day for ABC. A good friend and groundbreaking ABC executive passes unexpectedly at 37. Dax Tejera i only have good thoughts my friend.”

A former colleague of Dax, Anthony Quintano, wrote, “I’m shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of my friend and former colleague @DaxTejera. He was an amazing force in the news industry and will be sorely missed. Rest in peace, my friend.” ABC News Correspondent, John Quiñones, wrote, “Such a heartbreaking day for all of us at @abcnews Dax Tejera was not only the brightest – most compassionate – executive producer I’ve ever worked with, he was also a dear friend. On this Christmas Day, my thoughts are with his wife, Veronica and his two baby daughters.”
