On The Joe Rogan Experience, Foxx discussed the project and remarked, “We all play different personas. I portray a racist white cop.
Robert Downey Jr. portrays a Mexican. I needed Robert to play a Mexican, so I called him and told him as much.
“Dude, here’s the problem, he said. Sure. F*** it. Sure. Exactly why not? F*** it. Sure. No doubt. Mexican. Whatever.”
However, the Django actor did admit that Downey Jr. was wary about playing a Mexican because of the criticism he faced for Tropic Thunder.
Foxx reassured him that it was fine, though, after he “killed” it as an African-American soldier.
Despite having been shot in 2016, All-Star Weekend has been put on hold indefinitely.

“I know where my heart is, but I can’t disagree with them [the other 10%].
“I don’t believe there’s ever a justification for doing something that is inappropriate or out of date, but to me, it felt like blowing the lid off [the problem].”
“I believe the first task is to have moral psychology. You simply have to admit when you messed up.
“Not in my defense, but Tropic Thunder is about how wrong [blackface] is, so I take exception.”
