In 2023, Adam Sandler is working on a funny cartoon movie called “Leo.” It’s about a 74-year-old lizard named Leo who has lived his whole life in a glass box at a Florida school. When he finds out he only has one year left to live, Leo decides to escape with his turtle friend. But instead of getting away, he ends up helping the school kids and saving them from their mean substitute teacher. Adam Sandler is the voice of Leo, and he also helped make the movie and wrote the story with his friends Paul Sado and Robert Smigel.
Adam Sandler’s family is in the movie too. His wife Jackie and their daughters Sadie and Sunny are lending their voices to different characters. Other actors like Stephanie Hsu, Rob Schneider, Jason Alexander, Bill Burr, Sheila Carrasco, Heidi Gardner, and Nicholas Turturro are also in the movie. 2. Spaceman (2024)
“Spaceman” is a movie about a man named Jakub who came from the Czech countryside and became the first astronaut from his country. While he’s in space all alone, he starts talking to a make-believe big alien spider. They become friends, and Jakub tells the spider about his problems on Earth.
The movie is based on a book called “Spaceman of Bohemia” by Jaroslav Kalfař. It’s directed by Johan Renck, who made a movie called “Downloading Nancy.” Adam Sandler plays Jakub in the movie, and there are other actors like Carey Mulligan, Paul Dano, Kunal Nayyar, Isabella Rossellini, Sinead Phelps, John Flanders, and Petr Papánek in it too. The movie is still being worked on and will come out on Netflix in 2024.
3. Untitled Film with Safdie Brothers (TBA)
Sandler will be in a new movie made by Joshua and Benjamin Safdie. The movie is about valuable sports cards from the 1990s. It’s about a retired baseball player who wants to play again. Also, there’s a person who sells sports stuff and wants to make money from the player’s success.
Sandler is the main actor in a movie about a person who collects sports stuff. We don’t know who else will be in the movie yet. This is the second time Sandler is working with the Safdie Brothers. They made a movie together in 2019 called ‘Uncut Gems.’ In January 2023, Sandler said that the Safdie Brothers are still writing the story for the new movie.
The actor said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter,
“They’ve been writing this movie we’re supposed to do together for a couple years. They just write hundreds and hundreds of pages. I’ll read them and I’ll say, ‘I like the part when this…’ And they’ll be like, ‘Oh, that’s not in it anymore. We did a whole other thing. We’re going to send you a new draft.’ They just don’t stop writing and thinking and coming at every angle they can, and this movie we’re going to do is pretty amazing.”
The movie is still being made, and it’s release date is yet to be announced.
