Director Shawn Levy speaks out in response to some of the recurring rumours concerning the cast of Deadpool 3. Some of the Deadpool 3 rumours, according to Shawn Levy, are accurate, but not all of them. The internet has created a buzz around the potential cast, but not everything should be believed. The movie which is set to premiere in May 2024, has been the subject of persistent rumours from fans.
The release date for Deadpool 3 has changed two times. The film was initially announced for September 6, 2024, but it later changed to November 8, 2024. In a surprising announcement, Disney revealed that the film is being pushed up to May 4, 2024.
Fans appear to be most enthusiastic about Deadpool 3 of all the Marvel brands that transferred from 20th Century Fox to Marvel Studios. Not only does it relaunch Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, but it also brings Wolverine, one of Deadpool’s most well-known comic book co-stars.
Deadpool 3 Casting
From the first two films, several more beloved characters have made a comeback, including Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa, Leslie Uggams’ Blind Al, Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Rob Delaney’s Peter. The big story, however, has been about everyone who has been rumoured to be in the cast, whether as a supporting role or a cameo.
With Jackman returning as Wolverine, many fans assume that other former X-Men cast members, like Ian McKellen as Magneto, Halle Berry as Storm, and Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth, will make appearances.
Other characters who are said to come from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe are Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Mobius (Owen Wilson) from Loki (2021-present), Daredevil (Ben Affleck) and Elektra (Jennifer Garner) from Daredevil (2003), Human Torch (Chris Evans) from Fantastic Four (2005), and Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) from WandaVision (2021).
Then there are all the new actors portraying previously unseen roles. Even though we’ve previously seen MODOK in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), we may be seeing Jim Carrey as MODOK, Taylor Swift as Dazzler, Channing Tatum as Gambit, many Wolverine iterations portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe and Taron Egerton, and even Channing Tatum as Gambit.
And this is not all, these are just some of the rumours floating about. Amazingly, there are over a hundred suggestions for performers and characters on the list of probable characters.
‘Deadpool 3’ Director, Shawn Levy’s Reaction On Rumors
In an interview for his upcoming Netflix series All the Light We Cannot See (2023), Shawn Levy was questioned about whether Wolverine should don his classic armour again and what he thought of the Deadpool 3 casting rumours. He said “I’d rather not weigh in on that, but I’ll say this,” he teased. “The rumors of actors, singers, sports stars who are all apparently in Deadpool 3 are fabulous. If all I read was the internet, I would have the greatest cast ever assembled in the history of cinema, so I’ll simply say that some of those rumors are true, and some of them aren’t.”
Levy stressed how they “went to great lengths” to not film on “sound stages with digital environments.” The director also stated that “the internet has proven that by leaking pictures of our shoot. Thank you internet!
According to the Deadpool 3 set photographs with the demolished 20th Century Fox logo in the background of Wade Wilson and Wolverine, “We wanted something that felt grounded, real.” It may be for the best that the director of Deadpool 3 warned moviegoers that not every casting rumour can or will come true given that this confirmed some significant rumours about the film and implies that more are still to come.
