Early Life
Alan Michael Ritchson was born on November 28, 1982, in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Vickie and David Ritchson. His mother was a high school educator and his father was a retired chief master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He is the middle child of three sons.
As a child, his family relocated to Rantoul, Illinois, and eventually settled down in Niceville, Florida when he was 10 years old. He completed his education at Niceville High School, graduating in 2001.
After receiving a complete music scholarship for his vocal talents, he began his college education but ultimately left due to a lack of fulfillment. He then relocated to Los Angeles and spent a few years working as a model.
Between 1999 and 2003, he was a dual-enrollment student at Okaloosa Walton Community College, currently known as Northwest Florida State College. He completed his studies and received an Associate of Arts degree. During his time there, he was part of the Soundsations and Madrigal Singers groups within the Fine Arts Division.
For several years, Ritchson resided in Florida with his wife Catherine and their three sons. However, in 2023, they decided to sell their house and adopt a nomadic lifestyle, enabling Ritchson to prioritize his family time.
