Moreover, the two executives have also stated that they are not limiting their plans to the second film. It is highly likely that a trilogy of Alita Battle Angel will be made, meaning that there are at least two more movies in plans.

When asked about the films in an interview, James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez revealed quite a lot of information. Rodriguez is the director of the first film and he added that they do have a plan for the second film.

He also revealed that he needs to review the plans of the films because Cameron is still working on the sequel of Avatar. He said that Cameron has sent him material for the next movies and he will be dividing the plot line to construct a trilogy.
Reports suggest that Cameron has sent nearly 600 pages of notes to Rodriguez. They will be working on them to decide what goes in the second film and what goes in the third one.
