As the script for the sequel is nearly finished, more details are coming out. There are new updates on the main villain and a new character for the Alita: Battle Angel 2.
The sequel will have new characters
Based on the Japanese anime series Gunnm, Alita: Battle Angel ended with the final reveal of Nova’s character. Nova, who was played by Edward Norton in a cameo was the controller of Zalem city. He was the one responsible for everything that happened with the main character Alita, a cyborg girl with her memories lost. Alita: Battle Angel sequel would focus more on Nova and give us his backstory and the reason why he hates Alita.
Alita: Battle Angel 2 would also introduce us finally to the character of Clive Lee. While there were plans to introduce the hunter-warrior in the first movie, it was later decided to save him for the sequels. The first Alita movie focused on the motorball game as a way to reach up in the city. Alita: Battle Angel sequel would finally show us the city inside and other ways of reaching up in Zalem.
Avatar 2 could delay the movie
There are some new reports also which claims that Alita: Battle Angel sequel could be delayed. James Cameron is currently busy with the Avatar sequels, and they are also pushed back by a year. Avatar 2 will now release in December 2021 instead of 2020. It has also moved back the release dates of Avatar 3, 4, and 5 up to the year 2027.
Alita: Battle Angel 2 could release maybe earlier than Avatar 2 if the director starts working on it without James Cameron. It will be ultimately in the hands of makers about which movie to release first.
