However, the makers are working on Alita 2 from their side and the script is being written based on the manga source materials. Here is the latest Alita: Battle Angel 2 plot update where the VFX supervisor has confirmed that there is plenty of manga source materials for the story of Alita’s next adventures.

Alita: Battle Angel sequel latest updates have come from Video effects supervisor Richard Baneham, who worked on the first movie and has requested fans to convince Disney to make the Alita sequel happen. Baneham has also worked on special effects of Avatar for which he has won an Oscar award and now he’s looking forward to Alita 2 to happen.
The VFX supervisor confirmed that there are plenty of ideas for the “Alita: Battle Angel 2” plot as the manga source materials are very rich in detail. Alita sequel plot will be based on the cyberpunk manga series Gunnm (1990 to 1995) written by Yukito Kishiro and it has over 50 chapters, which are enough for the next movie.

Alita: Battle Angel 2 confirmation lies in the hands of Disney studios which acquired Fox and all its IPs for $71 billion last year. Rosa Salazar, the actress who plays Alita has also hinted that Alita sequel is delayed due to the Disney-Fox merger.

In conclusion, it is now confirmed that Alita: Battle Angel 2 will be a Disney movie and its release date and production lies in the hands of Walt Disney Studios.
