Thousand of users who have plugged in the new speaker on 25th of December that is, Christmas Day have reportedly been greeted by a significantly less rate of smart response when the virtual assistant of Amazon has crashed.
The servers which were in charge of controlling the digital butler was reportedly overloaded with more than a thousand questions as well as requests which in turn has prompted Alexa to respond to some users that “Sorry, I’m having trouble understanding you right now.”
The crash of Amazon Alexa took place around 10 am GMT that has prompted a significant number of Amazon customers for complaining about the response along with not being able to play the Christmas festive song by turning on the users living room lights. Alexa wasn’t even able to provide the cooking instructions for Santa’s Day.
Richard Hyland took it to Twitter and said that it is an excellent day for Alexa by Amazon to crash. It doesn’t feel that people desire in registering new Alexa powered devices or even play the music.
Amazon’s Alexa generally works by sending voice commands through Amazon Echo devices that go straight to a server where a computer interprets them. The instruction is then carried to the Echo devices, and then the gadgets play the music or reads the weather and perform the tasks like turning up the lights.
The customer service account of Amazon around lunchtime tweeted to make people aware of the scenario where some of the Echo devices across Europe had issues in connectivity for over two hours. The customer service also assured the Echo users across Europe that the problems have been resolved.
Last year Alexa sparked controversy after the reports were submitted that an Alexa user was asked by the virtual assistant to kill the foster parents. The user then wrote on the website of Amazon and addressed that the words of Alexa were a new level of creepy.
