Ahead of her testimony in the ongoing court battle with her ex-husband Johnny Depp, Amber Heard has fired her crisis PR firm. According to the New York Post, Heard fired Precision Strategies because of the negative press stemming from the defamation trial. According to The Wrap, Heard’s new team is led by a PR veteran and his firm. The Management Group was sued in a $25 million fraud lawsuit by Johnny Depp. There was a legal battle that was settled.
Amber Heard’s decision to switch her PR team comes due to frustration over what sources say is her story not being told effectively. Over the past two weeks, as part of the defamation trial in Virginia, various psychologists and others have made headlines, particularly over explicit and salacious details of their former relationship. Heard is expected to testify in the case on Tuesday.
In May 2016, Amber Heard obtained a temporary restraining order against the actor after she divorced him. Heard wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post in which she talked about being the victim of domestic and sexual violence and how speaking out about the abuse negatively impacted her career. Heard didn’t name the actor in the op-ed. According to the lawsuit, the op-ed led to the loss of film roles and other opportunities. The accusations that he abused Heard have been denied by him. Court TV is showing the proceedings.
