Amber Heard who is rumoured to be replaced as Mera in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is all set to make her big screen appearance in a psychological thriller. Heard who was in the news last year for the famous lawsuit battle against Johnny Depp had become a meme and faced a lot of trolling from Depp’s fanbase. However, almost a year later it seems like the Aquaman star is back on track.
What Is Amber Heard’s Next Movie Project?
The good news for Amber Heard fans is that the actress will be next seen in a paranormal psychological thriller movie, In the Fire. The movie is produced by Angel Oak Films, ILBE, and Paradox which is directed by Conor Allyn. The movie premiered at the 69th Taormina Film Festival which was held in Sicily, Italy.
In the Fire is set in 1899 where Heard plays the role of an American psychiatrist who is employed to solve a case involving a disturbed young boy. A short clip from the movie was released on YouTube which shows Amber Heard interviewing the young boy.
While talking about the project, Heard told Variety,
“I feel honored to be part of this labor of love and to be the lead in [director] Conor Allyn’s vision. I feel lucky to be surrounded by such an amazing cast. They’re as dedicated and magical as the characters they play.”
“[In the Fire is] a meditation on the almost supernatural powers of love told through a strong-willed and independent woman at the turn of the 20th century.”
Movie director Conor Allyn had nothing but words of praise for Heard calling her “a force to be reckoned with.”
“When Amber showed up in Italy to shoot, she was a force to be reckoned with. She was a star who was amazing in front of the camera, but also was a partner in crime behind the camera. Once we started shooting, it was from Day One a comfort blanket to have her there. I knew I could point the camera at her, and I would get something good.”
Film Producers Were Skeptic About Amber Heard
While the team is in awe of the Aquaman star, there were certain apprehensions about Amber Heard’s arrival at the Taormina Film Festival. Film producers and festival organizers were worried about Depp’s fanbase carrying out anti-Heard demonstrations and other potential threats. However, producer Pascal Borno made sure the security was air-tight by persuading the Italian police.
“[The police] took it seriously and afterwards I promised them selfies with Amber.”
Her co-star, Luca Calvani was also surprised to see the support she received from her fans at the festival.
“I was relieved to see how they shouted for her. After all the stuff being yelled online at this beautiful human being.”
Calvani added that the movie was a good distraction for Amber Heard and the castmates from all the media attention surrounding the Depp vs Heard trial. He also commented how Heard is a great actor and she is back in action.
“The trial was looming over us. We felt the gravity of this huge media machine building against all of us, and the camaraderie of the shoot felt like a good distraction.”
“Amber is back. She’s great; she is radiant; she’s a good actor and she is resilient.”
