Many American citizens are living abroad. According to the report published by the U.S. Department of State, it is estimated that about 9 million U.S. citizens live in other countries.
A survey from Greenback Expat Tax Services it is found that nearly one out of four citizens seriously consider or plan to renounce their citizenship and relocate. You can’t help but wonder what makes people think is better across the sea that makes them want to take such a decision?

So he listed all the reasons why that may sound really straightforward and somewhat painful to hear, but they will surely make you stop and reflect on all these things that have been normalized in the American way of life.

Here are all the reasons he listed in a video, making us wonder
The American expatriate community is very large, and if you look at the figure, it isn’t just a new hundred of people. We are talking about a massive 9 million people who prefer living abroad. While some eventually decide to return to their native land, some believe that it is best to settle where they are. In fact, many of them are willing to ditch their citizenship. According to the survey from Greenback Expat Tex Services, 1 out of 4 Americans expats. But, it is confusing for the department to judge what make people make this life-changing decision.
We tried to analyse the reasons behind the motive of expats. So, first off we considered the dreaded tax season that puts a strain on filers. It is so, that the Americans living overseas feel burdened with US tax filing, that most of them are willing considering to ditch their citizenship. The U.S. residents and citizens must file taxes and cover every tiny detail of what they owe. This indicates that expats come under an obligation to pay taxes in two places, which clearly puts them under stress.
Another reason might be related to do with the fact that many expats were dismayed by the U.S. government. In the same survey, it showed that not people preferred to stay abroad not only because of coronavirus, but also because they were unhappy with the American government crisis management. It is even more shocking to know that 85% of expats felt that they weren’t properly represented by the U.S. government.
It was interesting to know that the main reason why Americans decide to shift abroad has got to do more with lifestyle and quality issues, rather than finding work and career opportunities. Most American citizens more out of the country to find love and seek adventure.
According to a survey of 8,313 working expats living in 175 destinations, just 36% of Americans said that they moved out of the country for finding better job opportunities, compared with 47% of global expats who gave the same reason.
