On Sunday, the German luxury car brand spokesman said, Due to some software development issues the first electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) of Audi, will be for sale in showrooms 4 weeks later than intended.
The carmaker’s need for new regulatory clearance for the software that was customized during development stage has caused the delay of the Audi’s e-tron midsize SUV, the spokesman said.
In an effort to enlarge the market for their first class electric vehicles and in order to grab a share from Tesla, last month in San Francisco, Audi staged a global launch for e-tron.
Citing sources close to the company German newspaper Bild am Sonntag, was the first to state the delay of the electric SUV. Several months of delay can be expected reported the paper.
The cause of the delay was a ten percent price hike that was demanded by the South Korean company LG Chem, that supplies batteries for the Audi’s electric vehicles, reported the paper.
The spokesman of Audi has refused to comment on the matter with LG Chem.
