Much-awaited Barbie is about to hit theatres soon and fans cannot wait to catch all the fun, adventure, drama, and comedy that awaits us all. It has been one of the most-talked-about movies of the year and is expected to have a grand opening weekend despite sharing its release date with Nolans’ Oppenheimer.
Barbie Includes A ‘Snyder Cut’ Joke In The Movie
Touted to be one of the biggest movies of the year, Barbie has already started making headlines with controversy. According to reports, the Greta Gerwig movie includes a joke that refers to ‘Snyder Cut’ and Snyder fans are already furious about it. The ‘Snyder Cut’ phenomenon refers to Zack Snyder’s directorial cut of DC’s Justice League which was released years later after fans repeatedly hounded the studios for it.
After the movie was finally released, it was met with loads of fan appreciation and critical acclaim. Fans were impressed with Snyder’s version of Justice League which delivered exactly what they were expecting. Culture Care on Twitter reported that there will be a joke about the ‘Snyder Cut’ in the movie and also mentioned a video where Gerwig responds to whether she’s apprehensive of the reaction from the audience.

The joke is reportedly aimed at Warner Bros. regarding the casting decision of the Joker in the Snyderverse. Margot Robbie played the role of Harley Quinn and Ryan Gosling was being considered to play the Joker before the studio decided to go ahead with Jared Leto. It is a humouristic take on the Barbie and Ken trope. Some fans have unknowingly taken offence to the fact that Barbie has made fun of the ‘Snyder Cut’.

A Hollywood Handle writer, who goes by the username @TomMCJL shared a tweet where he clarified that the joke is “very funny” and not at all “distasteful.” He wrote-
“YES – #Barbiedirectly references Zack Snyder & his Justice League – No, it isn’t distasteful nor unfunny, it’s actually very funny. It’s a great joke. & The audience went pretty crazy at it.”
The user added that while he won’t be going into the details, he wanted to put the Snyder fans’ minds at ease.
