The failing contractor and the unfulfilled business owner are now in a fight that seems to bring out their deepest and darkest desires.
An official synopsis from Netflix reads:
The increasing stakes of their feud unravel their lives and relationships in this darkly comedic and deeply moving series.
Even though the series just came out four days ago, it has already been called one of the “best shows” of the year. It managed to secure a nearly-perfect score of 99% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Not only that, but it’s rare for a show to be liked by both fans and critics.
The Guardian‘s Ellen E. Jones called the work a “rare delicacy” and said that the episodes are full of “entertaining chaos and extremely funny dialogue.”
Benji Wilson of The Telegraph had nothing but good things to say about it.
Wong and Yeun are both superlative from the first scene and the script is terrific too: wickedly funny, deft and smart. There is nary a false note in the opening episodes, which are as more-ish as chocolate biscuits.
British GQ‘s Jack King said that Beef was “the best Netflix show since Squid Game.” He went on to praise A24 by saying:
…It’s hard to tear them down when they’re routinely putting out works like Beef — the first wagyu cut served up in the Netflix steakhouse in an age.
People who watched the show also made their voices heard by going on Twitter to praise it.
Me trying to stay sane after watching the most riveting show in a while,
wrote one user.
They ate down with the casting, performances, and writing. Soundtracks were insane… A multilayered that touches on so many underlying issues (mental health, trauma, and familial duties).
I just finished #BEEFNetflix #beef and wow. One of the best shows I’ve seen in a while. Amazing performances all around. Yeun and wong are fantastic. Funny, thrilling and anxiety inducing. What a show. Netflix has a WINNER,
A third said,
BEEF is the best Netflix show I’ve ever seen.
And this user agreed with that point of view as well.
Mindy Kaling, an actress, also said she really liked the show. This shows that celebrities are joining BEEF‘s hype.
She also told her 11.3 million Twitter followers:
This show Beef is so good, I love it.
The people have spoken nothing but the truth.
