Bette Midler once again switched to Twitter for getting to politics. The seventy two year actress and singer is blaming low minimum wages as the reason behind intense scenes on Black Friday at the shopping venues.
Black Friday acted as an unofficial opening of the holiday season when the Americans crowded the stores for reaping the benefits of the big sale. Just a day after that, Midler decided to voice her opinion about the dangerous shopping situation on Twitter. She said that the low cost items are not just a benefit, but a necessity for the average Americans.
Bette Midler wrote,
And how was YOUR Black Friday? No injuries, I hope! It’s incredible that we have to fight over STUFF. If there were a DECENT minimum wage, or if workers were treated fairly, and got a tiny portion of the kinds of salaries and bonuses CEOS pay themselves, we wouldn’t.
There was a mixed response to Midler’s tweet. Some users agreed with her assessment, while the others chastised her opinion that was ill-informed. This isn’t the first time that the actress took to Twitter which has courted controversy. Earlier in October, she had to apologize for after she called women “the n-word of the world”.
Further in November, she blamed the dip in the stock market on President Trump’s rhetoric and then she was in trouble for post a picture First Lady Melanie Trump with an inappropriate caption. Despite getting back lashed twice in a single week, she continues with anti-Trump articles and thoughts.
Many users feel that the singer’s view about the Black Friday sale is full of hypocrisy and she has failed to understand the entire idea behind it. Users feel that she is not at the correct place to judge if its beneficial or just a need.
