When famous rapper Bhad Bhabie gave a talk at the prestigious Oxford University, she was met with thunderous applause.
The Florida native, whose real name is Danielle Bregoli, first became well-known in 2016 when she went on Dr. Phil. “Cash me outside, how about dah?” was a line she said during the episode that was cruelly shared on social media as a meme.
But the 19-year-old used the attention she got at first to build an award-winning music career. She has worked with rappers like Lil Yachty, Ty Dolla Sign, and Tory Lanez. In 2018, Variety said that she was even up for “Top Female Rap Artist” at the Billboard Music Awards.
Now, it looks like Oxford University wanted to see what all the fuss was about, so they invited Bregoli to their campus for a Q+A session on a variety of topics, including the $50 million she has made as the creator of Only Fans, her new scholarship fund, and the alleged abuse she suffered at Turn-About Ranch, according to TMZ.
Dr. Phil told Bregoli about the second one, which is a residential program for troubled teens in Utah.
After the ranch got some bad press, Bregoli went on YouTube to talk about how she was abused while she was there. Soon after, the rapper joined forces with Paris Hilton, who has also talked about having similar problems as a young teen, to bring attention to programs like these.
After her Q+A, Bregoli let students ask her questions. One asked her what she thought of Ye’s recent actions, which have caused a lot of trouble. The “Gucci Flip Flops” rapper then responded by shouting out a list of the controversial artist’s biggest hits, which reportedly got more applause from the packed crowd.
But the young rapper also talked about things that were closer to home, like her new Bhad Scholarships program, which was made possible by a partnership with the Educapital Foundation.
With the $1.7 million scholarship, some students will be able to get full scholarships and grants to help them start their own businesses after they graduate.
Bhad Bhabie said at Oxford on Thursday (November 3) that she wants to fund “young hustlers” who want to start their own businesses.
“We didn’t want to just give out tuition funds but also help the grads with startup capital to launch their own businesses. I can’t wait to see what these young hustlers do,” the teen said.
Bregoli has joined a long list of famous people who have spoken at Oxford University, including US Presidents Reagan, Nixon, Carter, and Clinton, Queen Elizabeth II, the Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa, Malcolm X, Albert Einstein, Sir Elton John, Shakira, and Billy Joel.
