The 2018 UCI Masters Track Cycling World Championships that was held in Los Angeles over the weekend was won by a biological male who claimed to be a transgender woman.
McKinnon pushed back the natural-born female contestants Jennifer Wagner of American and Carolien Van Herrikhuyzen of the Netherlands to put the medal under her belt.
Cyclist Rachel McKinnon, is a professor at the College of Charleston and she was representing the Canadian team.
The transgender cyclist took on to twitter to celebrated the victory by saying, “First transgender woman world champion…ever.”
McKinnon stated that when we have begun to legally recognize transgenders in society, we should also do so in sports.
The professor is known for her criticism against forcing of transgender athletes to suppress their testosterone.
The professor made a statement that it is unfair to legally recognize a trans woman in society, and not have them recognized that way in sports.
