Reportedly Blade Runner is making its way to feature in small screen but as animated series. Alcon Television Group has allegedly partnered with Adult Swim as well as Crunchyroll for producing and distributing a brand new anime series which is allegedly inspired by 2017’s Blade Runner 2049.
The series will be called as Blade Runner: Black Lotus and the first season of the anime will be comprised of 13 episodes each will have a runtime of 30 mins. The details related to the plot of Blade Runner is kept as a secret, but there is a highly likely possibility that the story is going to take place in the year 2032 and it is going to include some of the magnificent characters from the universe of “Blade Runner.”
Jason DeMarco said that he first saw Blade Runner back in 1982 when he was 11 years old. DeMarco is the creative director as well as SVP of Adult Swim. DeMarco considers Blade Runner to be one of the life-defining films. And he also shared with utmost gratitude as he has got a chance to expand and the same time explores most of the things of Blade Runner universe. The forthcoming Blade Runner anime has a talented member on board, and according to the creative director, it is a dream come true to be able to work with incredible people.
The anime series is going to be produced by Sola Digital Arts, an animation studio. Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki are going to direct all the episode of the show. The Blade Runner: Black Lotus is the project that these directors have taken after rebooting the series of Ghost in the Shell.
The executive producer of the show will be Shinichiro Watanabe who has also written and directed a short anime film, “Blade Runner Black Out 2022.”
