Bleach creator Tite Kubo has revealed that the upcoming Bleach TYBW (Thousand-Year Blood War) anime adaptation will feature new elements that expand upon the story of the original manga. Fans who experienced the series’ ending through the manga can look forward to new content when the anime premieres.
New Surprises Await in Bleach TYBW Anime: Creator Confirms Unseen Story Elements!
According to Bleach Daily Scans, Tite Kubo confirmed in a Q&A with his fan club that the anime will include previously omitted story elements, including revealing the identity of the assailant who attacked Rukia during the first Quincy invasion. While no other changes or additions were mentioned, it seems that the new season will offer more than just a direct adaptation of the original manga finale.
The Bleach anime originally aired in 2004 and ran for 366 episodes. However, it concluded in 2012, leaving a significant portion of the manga’s story untold. Fans had been eagerly requesting an animated adaptation for the remaining chapters of the series, and their wish was granted in 2020 with the announcement of Bleach TYBW (Thousand-Year Blood War) which would pick up where the original show left off. The series was set to premiere in October 2022.
Moreover, not only is the anime returning, but in 2021, Tite Kubo also published the first new chapter of the manga since 2016. This chapter, titled “No Breaths from Hell,” was initially intended as a one-off release to commemorate the series’ 20th anniversary. However, it turned out to be a prologue for a new adventure featuring Ichigo and the other Soul Reapers, sparking speculation among fans that a sequel series might be in the works.
The original Bleach manga was first published in 2001 and remains one of the most popular shonen manga series worldwide, with over 120 million copies in circulation. The manga concluded in 2016, but Kubo revisited its world in 2018 with a spinoff series called “Burn the Witch,” set in England and exploring the western branch of Soul Society. Both the original Bleach manga and its spinoff are available in English from VIZ Media. Additionally, the 2004 Bleach anime series can be streamed on various platforms, including Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Funimation.
