Bob’s Burgers, the beloved animated sitcom, is back on our screens with its 14th season, creating waves of excitement among its fans. But the question on everyone’s mind is, did the premiere episode, “Fight at the Not Okay Chore-ral,” live up to the show’s stellar reputation?
A Much-Awaited Return
The Belchers’ return this season was later than usual, leaving fans longing for their quirky adventures. Although the delay can be attributed to the ongoing strike with SAG-AFTRA, the show’s dedicated followers have had 13 seasons worth of content to revisit and enjoy in the meantime. And now, the wait is finally over.
“Fight at the Not Okay Chore-ral”: A Synopsis
In this season opener, we see the Belcher family engaging in a classic dinner table standoff, sparked by Bob and Linda’s announcement that the kids are to start doing chores. What ensues is a tale narrated by the parents, with plenty of twists and turns as the kids interject and take control of the story, resulting in a humorous and chaotic showdown.
Bob and Linda’s initial tale about a horse named Pepperoni takes a dark turn as the kids, casting themselves as the townspeople, have their sheriff parents kidnapped and left in the wilderness. The story then pivots back to Bob and Linda’s control, with the sheriffs returning to save the town from the evil Goldoeder. In the end, it culminates in a quick-draw contest, an apology from Louise to Linda, and the kids falling asleep in their parents’ bed.
A Sparkler Rather Than a Bang
Bob’s Burgers has a legacy of starting its seasons with high energy and memorable episodes. However, this premiere, while heartfelt and featuring rare appearances from beloved side characters like Marshmallow and Grandma Gloria, felt more like a sparkler than the usual bang. It ventured more into sentimental territory, and while not a bad episode per se, it might not stand out as much as some of the show’s previous premieres.

Final Thoughts
As Bob’s Burgers graces our screens once again, it’s a delight to have the Belcher family back, bringing their unique brand of humor and heart. While “Fight at the Not Okay Chore-ral” might not be the most memorable start to a season, it sets the stage for more Belcher antics and heartwarming moments to come. We can only hope that as the season progresses and the SAG-AFTRA strike finds resolution, the show will regain its usual spark and continue to be a highlight of our weekly viewing.
