Sandy Hook Elementary School located in Connecticut, Newtown was reportedly evacuated on Friday morning after the authorities of the school received a bomb threat on the sixth anniversary of mass shooting which has reportedly left 26 students including some teachers dead.
The Police Department of Newton has reportedly received a call at around 9 am that there was a bomb at the school. Soon after that officers were sent to the school campus and then the police authority has conducted a search as a method of precaution. However, they do not believe that the threat was credible enough.
Aaron Bahamonde, the Lieutenant of Police Department said that the process of evacuation taking place in the school and the superintendent of the school thought that it would best for the students and the staff to their respective homes for the day.
Adam Lanza, a former student of Sandy Hook Elementary School has shot and killed around 20 of the first-graders along with six educators and then he killed off himself when the police tried to bring him in. Before heading to the school, Adam Lanza killed Nancy Lanza, his mother before he headed out to school.
The news of the threat came into being on Friday after the departments of police across the country and also in Canada were reportedly altered to the bomb threats which were sent to hospital and businesses among various other places. Authorities in both of the countries have reportedly said the threats were emailed or were made on the call.
The Police Department in Detroit said on Friday morning in a series of tweet that the investigating was based on multiple threats that have targeted two of the courthouses along with three hospitals.
Police from cities such as Oklahoma, New York, Washington and San Francisco have also been investigating the bomb threats.
