Even before the release, the Boruto manga was trending at the top. Fans had high expectations from this manga series for the time-skip arc and were excited about the return of Masashi Kishimoto in the series from scratch!
However, if we reminisce about Mikio Ikemoto’s plans, the Boruto manga will supposedly end within 30 volumes to keep the entire Naruto series within 100 volumes. With the amount of success it receives almost every month, evident from the views on Manga Plus, is there a change to the chalked-out plan? Let’s analyze the current situation in detail!
Boruto Manga: What Can Be Ikemoto’s Current Plans With The Manga?
Even before ending Part 1 of the Boruto manga, Mikio Ikemoto declared that he would like to finish the entire Boruto manga within 30 volumes so he can keep the complete Naruto series within 100 volumes. Part 1 of Boruto Manga had 80 chapters collected in 40 volumes. If we go by Ikemoto’s 30 volumes theory, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is left with just 9 volumes. So, how will these 9 volumes pan out throughout the year? It took seven years with sufficient breaks to complete part 1 of the Boruto manga, and now fans are wondering how many more chapters the series will conclude.
- Following the previous pattern of Part 1 of Boruto manga and Two Blue Vortex, where Volume 1 contains four chapters, let’s have each volume contain only four chapters published regularly with no breaks. In that case, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex would have 40 chapters and be over by November 2026.
- If Boruto: Two Blue Vortex contains five chapters per volume, the manga series will conclude within 49 chapters, and if published regularly without any breaks, the manga series will draw its conclusion within August 2027.
- If Boruto: Two Blue Vortex contains five chapters per volume, with sufficient breaks, the manga series will conclude with 40-49 chapters within 2028, at the most.

Can Boruto Manga Be Completed Within 30 Volumes?
It’s significant to consider two things when analyzing the plans for the Boruto manga series now that Masashi Kishimoto is involved. One, it’s common for mangaka to struggle with meeting their deadlines to conclude the series, so there may be some changes to the schedule.
Two, Masashi Kishimoto is almost 49 years old and has previously suffered from stress and health issues related to his work on Naruto. Despite not having plans initially to continue the series, he was requested by the fandom and the publishers to take over the Boruto manga series when its popularity was slopping down.
Considering these reasons, it is unlikely that Masashi Kishimoto will have any patience to continue the series for five to six more years. The upcoming contents in the series might be about Boruto and his friends fighting the God trees and any main villains if introduced, along with Boruto coming clean to Konoha village and redemption of Kawaki.
Not many events are left to be further disclosed in the upcoming chapters, and dragging the story won’t do justice to the Naruto franchise. If we go by the five chapters per volume with enough breaks, fans can mostly expect the series to wrap within 2027-2028.
