Brendan Fraser making a return to movies is like a present that keeps on giving. Since The Whale made a big splash in 2022, the actor has already been nominated for more awards (61 so far) than he had in the 30 years before that. But now he has gotten a nomination for an Oscar, which is one of the most coveted awards.
Brendan Fraser had never been nominated for an Oscar before.
After 32 years, when he played Bobby McLoughlin in “Presumed Guilty,” which was his first movie role, he started a new career. As expected, Brendan Fraser was nominated for an Oscar in the Actor in a Leading Role category for his role as Charlie, an overweight English teacher who lives alone in The Whale.
Even though the actor or his team hasn’t said anything about being nominated, we can tell that the 54-year-old must be very happy. Brendan Fraser was asked what it would mean to him to be nominated for an Oscar at the 2023 Critics’ Choice Awards. This was a few days before the Oscar nominees were announced.
It would mean a lot to me, like any other actor who dared to hope and to dream,
he replied.
The Whale was nominated for several Oscars.
The Whale is a movie directed by Darren Aronofsky and based on a play of the same name. It’s about a very fat man who tries to improve his relationship with his teenage daughter, played by Sadie Sink from Stranger Things. Even though critics had mixed feelings about the movie, it has been nominated for three Oscars. In addition to Brendan Fraser being nominated for the same, the movie got nods for Makeup and Hairstyling and Actress in a Supporting Role for Hong Chau, who plays Liz, a nurse and Charlie’s best friend.
