Grammys 2024: Burna Boy Sets The Stage On Fire With Brandy and 21 Savage With The Medley Performance on “Sittin’ On Top Of The World“
Burna Boy entertained the crowd with his back-to-back superhits from his latest album, “I Told Them…” He rocked the stage with “On Form,” “City Boys,” and “Sittin’ On Top Of The World.” Brandy and 21 Savage soon joined him for a medley of Burna’s 2023 track “Sittin’ On Top Of The World,” which features 21 Savage and takes inspiration from Brandy’s 1998 hit “Top Of The World,” starring Mase.
This year, Burna Boy was nominated in four categories, including Best Melodic Rap Performance (Sittin’ On Top Of The World), Best African Music Performance (“City Boys“), Best Global Music Performance (“Alone“), and Best Global Music Album (“I Told Them…“). Sittin’ On Top Of The World was released last year on June 1, 2023, and quickly made its way to the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 80 and No. 2 on Rhythmic Airplay. “I Told Them…” topped its way to No. 31 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on World Albums.
Burna Boy lit the stage in a red jacket with silver jewels and blue jeans while his background dancers performed in traditional Nigerian attire. The stage lighted up with colors as he played “City Boys” and danced ecstatically.
Brandy joined him on the stage in an entirely black outfit with red knee-high boots and performed on her 1998 hit, “Top Of The World.” The duo was soon joined by 21 Savage, who was also in an all-red leather jacket and jeans and contributed his rendition of “Sittin’ On Top Of The World.”
Savage 21 was nominated for Best Rap Album for “Her Loss,” Best Rap Song for “Rich Flex,” and Best Rap Performance for “Rich Flex.” Brandy, the winner of Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group in 1999 for “The Boy Is Mine” with Monica, entered the Grammy 2024 Awards as a previous winner.
