Caitlyn Jenner’s Candid Take on the Tape That Catapulted the Kardashians to Fame
It’s the tape that won’t go away. More than a decade after Kim Kardashian’s notorious video with then-boyfriend Ray J surfaced, the questions and speculations are far from over. But Caitlyn Jenner, the only KarJenner family member to participate in the new three-part docuseries House of Kardashian, is shedding some light on the subject.
“Whatever’s going on, I don’t know what it is and I’m gonna go to the golf course,” Caitlyn said, according to E! News. “To be honest with you, I just stayed out of it.”
The Family’s Stance: Orchestrated Leak or Unfortunate Incident?
The Kardashians have always been a subject of public fascination, but the 2007 tape took it to another level. Accusations have long swirled that the family had a hand in leaking the video, a claim both Kris and Kim have vehemently denied.
“When I first heard about Kim’s sex tape, as her mother, I wanted to kill her. But as her manager, I knew that I had a job to do and I really just wanted her to move past it,” Kris Jenner said on the premiere season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
Caitlyn Jenner, however, clarified her role—or lack thereof—in the entire saga.
“I never, ever once had that conversation,” Caitlyn stated, referring to rumors that Kris and Kim coordinated the tape’s leak. “Or did I want to have that conversation.”
Ray J’s Explosive Claims: A Deal, Not a Leak
Ray J, who was also a key player in this drama, had his own version of the story. Last year, he told the Daily Mail that Kris Jenner had watched two different tapes before deciding which one to release.
“I’ve sat in the shadows for over 14 years allowing the Kardashians to use my name, to abuse my name, make billions of dollars over a decade-and-a-half talking about a topic I’ve never really spoken about,” Ray J said. “It has never been a leak. It’s always been a deal and a partnership between Kris Jenner and Kim and me and we’ve always been partners since the beginning of this thing.”
Kanye West’s Unseen Heroics: The Laptop Incident
In a twist, Kanye West, Kim’s ex-husband, revealed in an interview with Hollywood Unlocked that he had actually stopped a second leak of the tape. He claimed to have hand-delivered the laptop containing the alleged footage. A spokesperson for Kardashian confirmed the existence of the laptop but denied any additional explicit content.
“The computer and hard drive collected were supposed to contain the original video and any unseen footage. After review, there was nothing sexual unseen, only footage on the plane on the way to Mexico and footage at a club and restaurant on the same trip,” read the statement.
The Lasting Impact: House of Kardashian Docuseries
As the new docuseries House of Kardashian is set to premiere, it’s clear that the tape still holds a significant place in pop culture and the Kardashian legacy. Whether it was a calculated move or an unfortunate incident, it undeniably played a role in catapulting the family to unprecedented fame. And with Caitlyn Jenner‘s recent revelations, the conversation is far from over.
