A Significant Shift in Warzone’s Gameplay Dynamics
Activision has taken a step back from its ambitious update to “Call of Duty: Warzone,” particularly concerning the much-discussed “Covert Exfil” feature. Initially set for the Season 1 Reloaded update, this feature was intended to introduce a new way for players to claim victory in the popular battle royale game, diverging from the traditional last-man-standing win condition.
The Concept of Covert Exfil
The “Covert Exfil” feature was designed to offer a unique twist to Warzone’s gameplay. Players would have the option to purchase covert exfils from buy stations before the gulag closed. This feature would have enabled up to five players per match to escape the battlefield via a helicopter, offering a non-traditional way to survive the match without necessarily being the final player or team remaining.
Mixed Reactions from the Community
The introduction of “Covert Exfil” sparked a range of responses from the Warzone community. Many players expressed criticism of the idea, challenging the concept of exiting a Warzone match alive without the need to outlast all other competitors. This feedback played a crucial role in Activision’s decision to reconsider the implementation of this feature.

Raven Software’s Response to Player Feedback
Raven Software, recognizing the mixed reactions, has decided to pivot from their original plan. While they still see value in the “Covert Exfil” feature, it will not be integrated into Warzone’s main battle royale mode. Instead, the developers plan to include it in a separate, dedicated mode. This decision aligns with Raven Software’s commitment to evolving the game based on player feedback and their continuous pursuit of fresh challenges within Warzone.
What’s New in Season 1 Reloaded
Despite the change in plans for the “Covert Exfil” feature, Season 1 Reloaded is not short on new content. The update introduces “Rio,” a new core multiplayer map for “Modern Warfare III,” along with an additional DLC Operator from “The Boys.” Players can also look forward to a new multiplayer event called “Supe Siege.” For more detailed information about everything that Season 1 Reloaded brings to “Modern Warfare III” and “Warzone,” fans can check out our comprehensive overview.
