Captain Marvel has proved to be a great addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies. And it stood up to our expectations. Because it had two post-credit scenes.
The first post credit scene of Captain Marvel is related to Avengers: Endgame and increases the ongoing excitement. The second is a humorous one.
You should definitely stay for the first one. Because it reveals a lot of hints about Avengers: Endgame. The second post credit scene of Captain Marvel is still better than the second post-credits of Ant-man and the Wasp. So, let’s discuss the two post credits scenes of Captain Marvel.
First post credit scene of Captain Marvel
The scene picks up from the last scene of Avengers: Infinity War. It shows the close up of Fury’s pager beeping with Captain Marvel’s symbol on it. And then the pager screen turns blank.
Then, we see Captain America and Black Widow working on some data. They are still trying to work out how people died after Thanos’ infamous snap. Rhodey enters the room and informs them that the pager has stopped sending the signal. Even Bruce Banner seems tensed.
Captain America tells them to reboot the system and send the signal again. Natasha says that the message was definitely important for Fury and they need to keep working at it. She says she wants to know who is on the other side of the pager.
And as soon as she turns to leave, Captain Marvel appears in front of her. She looks tensed and asks, “Where is Fury?” End of scene.
What does this mean?
Obviously, Captain Marvel was on the other side of the pager. And Carol survived Thanos’ snap. This also shows how Fury actually got the pager from Captain Marvel. And remember how she told him to use it only for emergency cases? Yes, this is an emergency. Now, we don’t know if this scene was shot exclusively for a post credits or is an excerpt from Endgame. Either way, it was awesome.
Second post credit scene of Captain Marvel
The scene starts with a shot of Nick Fury’s desk back in 1995. The office is empty and only his name plate lies on the desk. Goose, the cat/flerken enters into the frame. And it starts to cough up a hairball, which is a pretty normal thing. But then, after some heaving, it coughs up the Tesseract on Fury’s desk. And the screen goes black.
What does this mean?
Goose is actually a Flerken. It is an alien species which looks like a cat but can reveal tentacles from its mouth. In Captain Marvel, Goose swallows the Tesseract to keep it safe from the Kree race team. But, then they didn’t actually know what it was.
