Carson Daly, the host of The Today Show, is beginning a crucial, if somewhat contentious, discussion about the idea of sleeping apart from your partner.
Couples used to frequently sleep in separate beds and even rooms, but nowadays it’s considered somewhat taboo. The media star, however, wants other couples to feel more at ease discussing what works best for them.
The worst thing that can happen is for you to fall asleep at work because your significant other kept you up all night.
No, not for any sex-related reason, but rather due to their loud, obtrusive snoring or continual tossing and turning.
Do you know anyone who never had to deal with this? Carson Daly and Siri Pinter, his wife.
The couple, who got married in 2015 and have four small children, are prioritizing their own needs when it comes to their unconventional sleeping arrangements.
On a recent broadcast of “The Today Show,” host Carson Daly discussed the choice he and his wife made a few years ago to begin sleeping apart.
“We both, admittedly, slept better apart,” Carson said during the segment.
Speaking with “People” back in 2020, the TV personality said: “We’re both pretty good-sized humans and it just wasn’t really working when she was in her third trimester, and I also have sleep apnea, which is very sexy for the ladies out there, I’m sure.”
“She couldn’t get comfortable, so we were like a commercial you would see, kicking each other and just not sleeping.”
Carson and his wife tried to make things work but eventually decided that they had both had enough.
“We woke up and we just shook hands like, ‘I love you, but it’s time to sleep divorce. It’ll be the best thing for all of us.”
I adore that they are acting in their own best interests.
