Channing Tatum is the Hollywood stud who is known for his chiseled physique and impeccable comedic timing. Anybody remembers “My name Jeff“? While the actor has managed to make the entire world laugh, he has been robbed of some smiles. The actor had his heart shut down by his ex-wife Jenna Dewan after they separated in 2018. The two also share a daughter. The beautiful love story between Tatum and his ex-wife came to an end and it left his fans distraught. However, he was soon back on the market as he dated Jessie J, and is now dating Zoe Kravitz.
For anyone who thought that divorcing Dewan was easy for Tatum, it’s quite the contrary. The 21 Jump Street actor opens up, “We fought for it for a really long time, even though we both sort of knew that we had sort of grown apart.” However, things changed for the couple after they became parents. Tatum explains, “But when you’re actually parents, you really understand the differences between the 2 of you. Because it is screaming at you all day long. How you parent differently, how you look at the world, how you go through the world.”
Channing Tatum and his ugly divorce
The actor explains how the two could not play pretend anymore and had to just part ways. He continues, “In the beginning, it was super scary and terrifying.” But in hindsight, he believes this is what was necessary. Tatum says, “It was probably exactly what I needed. I don’t think I would’ve ever done the work, I think, on myself in the way that I had to do the work on myself to really try to figure out what was next.” This is the realization that helped Tatum jump into the dating arena.
However, it doesn’t mean that Tatum was ready to commit to anyone on the same level. Tatum reaffirms his decision and says, “I don’t know if I’m ever going to get married again. Relationships are hard for me. Even though I am a bit of a monogamist. In business, I have no real fear of anything being destroyed. But heart things, when it comes to people I love, I have a really hard time. I end up trying too hard, you know?”
What got Channing Tatum through the rough times?
In hindsight, Tatum did not lose everything. For him, the divorce only got her closer to her daughter Everly Elizabeth Maiselle Tatum. Tatum explains, “It just started with my daughter. I just dropped everything and just focused on her. And it was truly the best possible thing that I ever could have done. Because in the alone time that I have with just me and her, we’ve become best friends.” Everly arrived in 2013. Tatum says, “There’s no version of me not having the conversation of ‘Dad didn’t just do them in movies, I was an actual stripper,’ so I’m not gonna lie to her.”
He continues, “Only in having a daughter did it start to really scare me how scary the world is for women.” Channing continues, “You can conceive it when you love someone that is a girl, but it doesn’t land in the same way as having a tiny female human in the world that is so vulnerable and looking at the world through rose-colored glasses.”
Tatum is now in a relationship with Zoe Kravitz. Their relationship seems to be going well as they are rarely seen in public. This could be because Zoe also went through a divorce in 2021. For Tatum, things are going well and he doesn’t want to mess it up. He compares his relationship to pottery which one can destroy by pressing too hard. Tatum says, “You know when things are kind of just working, you don’t want to touch it? Like pottery. If I keep pressing on it, it’s going to buck me off. And you’re just like, ’Ooh. Maybe I should stop.’”
