Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is out in the theaters but many people don’t know what will happen to the characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after that. James Gunn’s GOTG Vol. 3 will be the last movie in the trilogy. For over a decade, Marvel’s favorite “A-holes” have charmed audiences as they traveled to different galaxies. Fans want to see more of the actors from the trilogy, even though many of them have said they won’t be back to play their MCU roles.
It has been questioned if Star-Lord, played by Chris Pratt, will come back or not since he got close to the director, James Gunn.
In response to the question of whether or not he will return to the MCU, the actor recently said there is one thing that must happen for him to play Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, again.
Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord, told Games Radar that he would be open to coming back as Star-Lord, even though James Gunn is leaving Marvel for DC. But the actor would only come back if it did justice to the character and the world that James Gunn built in the three movies. He feels “it would be strange to continue Peter’s story without James.”
The actor from Guardians of the Galaxy thinks that James Gunn has done “masterful work” in the first three movies. Chris Pratt later adds,
He writes it, he directs it, he dreams up the music, it’s his imagination on screen. So, to continue to tell the story, it would really be important to honour what he’s done in the first three films and to honour what the fans have grown to love about the character and not simply do it because people might show up to pay for it, you know?
Chris Pratt says that he didn’t want to be “cynical about it.” The actor thinks he can come back if something makes sense and would do it, but “it would really have to check a lot of the right boxes.”
