Christina Haack called her ex-husband Ant Anstead a “disgusting” person for sharing an article that the “Wheeler Dealers” star thought was “brilliant” about their ongoing custody battle over their 3-year-old son Hudson.
“It was just brought to my attention Hudson’s father is promoting this article on his page, but with clap hands …. This makes this even more bizarre and disturbing,” Haack, 39, captioned an Instagram post recently, which featured a screenshot of a Psychology Today article titled “The ‘Reality’ of Kids on Television.”
The reality TV star said that her 43-year-old ex-husband is a real danger to their child because he keeps their son in the spotlight.
“Ant Anstead is so clearly projecting it’s not even funny. He is the ONLY ONE that keeps ensuring that Hudson’s name stays in the press. Hudson’s Law? Give me a break,” Haack added in a post shared via her Instagram Story.
“That sweet, little boy is healthy and happy-why is he being leveraged and USED by his father like this? After all the articles @psych_today as posted about Post-Separation Abuse, you’d think an editor somewhere would have seen through this, and left Hudson out of this article. Absolutely disgusting.”
The former “Flip or Flop” cast member went on to criticize the article’s author, Hilary Levey Friedman, Ph.D., who said that a law called “Hudson’s Law” should be passed to protect children more in the reality television industry.
“What a poorly written article. Sloppy Journalism/ Click bait at its finest,” Haack wrote. “Hilary, find a new narrative centered around facts, not the Instagram comment section.”
She continued, “You could have read the public court filings from both sides before writing this. Most of it is completely inaccurate and sounds more like a tabloid than something I would expect from a Ph.D.”
Haack said that she films with her kids for about an hour “maximum” every two months. She said that this is nothing like a show like “Toddlers & Tiaras,” where the kids are the main characters.
“Leave me out of your propaganda. Hudson’s Law?! Really? That is absurd. You don’t know anything about my household. Hudson is MY son. I’ve always protected him and always will,” she wrote.
Haack said that the author’s use of her and her son to help tell her “story” was “trashy and disgusting.”
“There are plenty of other home shows that feature their children and who continue to do so as part of the family dynamic, there are plenty of influencers across platforms who feature their children in advertisements. Are all these people putting their kids in harms way or using their kids as ‘puppets?!’ The answer is, NO,” Haack said.
She came to the conclusion that there is no need for a “Hudson’s Law” because her shows are about “home improvement” and “not my children.”
Anstead liked the article so much that he posted it on his own social media page and wrote, “What an utterly brilliant article by @hleveyfriedman calling for an urgent change in the law to protect our kids.” He also put in a number of emojis that showed hands clapping.
Haack and Anstead got married in 2018 and got divorced in September 2020. Since then, they have been fighting a lot about who will get custody of their son Hudson. Haack filed for divorce two months later, and the divorce was finalized in June of the following year, 2021.
Since they broke up, Anstead has said that Haack “exploited” their son and that she is an “absent mother.” Haack has denied Anstead’s claims.
Haack’s other two children, Taylor, who is 12 years old, and Brayden, who is 7 years old, are by her first ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa. The couple, who were married from 2009 to 2018, got into a heated argument on the set of “Flip or Flop” in 2021, which led to the show being canceled.
Haack surprised everyone in April 2022 when she married Joshua Hall for the third time in a secret ceremony. Anstead and his new girlfriend, Renée Zellweger, have moved on during this time.
El Moussa, for his part, got married to Heather Rae Young in October 2021. After writing about the ups and downs of her fertility journey, the “Selling Sunset” star said that she and El Moussa are going to have their first child in July 2022.
