Christine Baumgartner and Kevin Costner are due to appear in court to decide who will cover the expenses for their legal proceedings. The mother of three has requested that the actor pay out a total of $855,000. The celebrity couple has been caught up in legal battles ever since Baumgartner filed for divorce in May 2023, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
Why is Christine Baumgartner Demanding $800K From Kevin Costner?
The ex-model has requested that the actor pay $575,000 for legal services and an additional $280,000 for specialized witness fees. However, Costner had already gathered a total of $664,000 in expenses as of the end of July, as was shown in court last week, even though he stated he would take responsibility for his own expenses.
Christine Baumgartner is due to appear in court tomorrow after a two-day hearing about child support in which she asked for the amount she is currently being paid, $129,000, to be raised to $161,000. Astonishingly, though, Judge Thomas Anderle decreased it to $63,000, leaving the Costner’s ex-wife stunned.
A source close to the 49-year-old disclosed that Baumgartner found the ruling to be a “complete joke.” They said,
“Christine is shocked. She said even Kevin looked shocked. Everyone looked shocked. To say Christine is disappointed is an understatement. She described the ruling as a complete joke.”
The source also dished out that Christine Baumgartner believes that the Yellowstone star is unable to see how all this is hurting their kids since his main agenda is to portray her as a gold digger.
“Christine said they (Kevin and his lawyers) painted the picture of this shallow, greedy gold-digger and that if Kevin could get past his anger and revenge, he would see how this is hurting their kids.”
According to the source, the legal warfare between the couple is not done as Christine Baumgartner believes that her husband is doing it all out of spite. They said that the 68-year-old actor knows how important their neighborhood community is to Baumgartner and he is doing all this to “punish” her.
“She said Kevin is ripping her apart from her community by making it impossible to live in the tight-knit neighborhood. Christine said this was never about beach views and Kevin knows this. He knows how much the community means to Christine, and that this is his way of punishing her. Christine said the fight is far from over.”
A hearing in court is set for Wednesday (September 6) to decide who should be held accountable for Christine Baumgartner’s expenses.
During the child support battle, Baumgartner argued in court that the $40,000 monthly rental of her Montecito home was inadequate for her family since the kids need to be able to go to the ocean to keep living the way they are used to.
She mentioned that the new place would not be suitable for her children since her daughter Grace, aged 13, would have to share her bathroom with the household, and her sons Caden, 16, and Hayes, 14, would have to use the same restroom. Christine Baumgartner was disgruntled when the lawyer asked her if she intended to get a job to finance her living expenses.
Baumgartner had earlier told People that she intends to get back to work to support her and her kids’ lifestyles.
“I will look into the steps I need to take and any schooling I need to do, and I will enter the workforce.”
