Cindy Williams was an American actress best known for her role in Laverne & Shirley. She played Shirley in the sitcom which ran from 1976 to 1983 on ABC. Williams appeared in more than 150 episodes of the show.
Before she graduated from Birmingham High School in 1965, Cindy Williams was acclaimed as the “funniest female” and took part in several plays. Later, she studied theater at Los Angeles City College and had a close friendship with Lynne Marie Stewart, who went on to be featured in American Graffiti as Bobbie and in Pee-wee’s Playhouse as Miss Yvonne.
Williams passed away in LA on January 25, 2023, following a brief illness. Her kids, Zak and Emily Hudson shared the news of her demise via a public statement.
“The passing of our kind, hilarious mother, Cindy Williams, has brought us insurmountable sadness that could never truly be expressed. Knowing and loving her has been our joy and privilege. She was one of a kind, beautiful, generous and possessed a brilliant sense of humor and a glittering spirit that everyone loved.”
Williams tied the knot with Bill Hudson of the musical group Hudson Brothers in 1982. The two were blessed with Emily and Zachary, their two kids. Unfortunately, their union didn’t last, and the two separated in 2000.
