The City of Oak Park seems to have taken Pennywise The Clown a bit too seriously.
Halloween is a festival of evil clowns. Dressing up as clowns, ghosts, knocking each door and asking for chocolates is what Halloween is all about. But the City of Oak Park doesn’t want such things to happen at their Boo Bash.
The annual Boo Bask will be happening this year too at the Oak Park Community Center, but the latest notice by the office of city manager has got everyone a bit riled up. The notice did mention that there will be “cider and donuts”, “showing up in their favorite costumes” as well as the traditional “trick or treat street.” But at the bottom, there was an annoying text which read “clown costumes not allowed.”

The above notice was explained by Laurie Stasiak, the city’s recreation office to KSAT in an email. The email clearly said that clown costumes were becoming very scary and giving away an evil look from the past few years. Not only this, there have been many movies which are made with clowns as their central horror character. There has been news in the past of criminals dressing up as clowns and assaulting the common people.

Previously, there was a statement released on Facebook by the city of Oak Park, which said that the clown costumes are not banned, but they are not encouraging parents to use them for their children.
