Claudia Schiffer was born on August 25, 1970 and she grew up in Rheinberg. She is one of four children in a well-to-do family. Her father was a lawyer and she wanted to be one too. When she was a child, she also worked for some time at her father’s law firm.
She was only 17 years old when a Metropolitan modelling agency agent contacted her in a Dusseldorf disco. The 5 ft 11in blonde, who had always thought of herself as being too tall and too skinny, made her first appearance on the cover of Elle magazine just six months after graduating from high school. She earned the nickname ‘duck’ because of her long legs.
