Conor McGregor, who is expected to make his return any time over the next few months, is a very controversial name. However, before he returns and calls out someone officially, McGregor is keeping a close eye on the next two UFC events – UFC 241 and UFC 242, where he is likely to find his next opponent.
UFC 241 features Diaz vs Pettis while UFC 242 features Khabib vs Poirier. Depending on the outcome of these matches, ‘The Notorious’ McGregor will finally make a call as to who he will face next. Here’s a closer look:
UFC 241: Nate Diaz vs Anthony Pettis
Diaz vs Pettis at UFC 241 will be the co-main event of the show along with Cormier vs Miocic II. A win for Nate Diaz here would mean that McGregor might just choose him as his next opponent for their third fight! McGregor vs Diaz III is something that a lot of fans have been demanding for quite a long while.
The two men know each other too well. Diaz beat McGregor in their first fight while McGregor won the second one. This is Diaz’s first fight since his loss to Conor McGregor, and his first fight in three years! A win could potentially set up McGregor vs Diaz III.

UFC 242: Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Dustin Poirier
Khabib vs Poirier is the biggest match of UFC in 2019. All eyes are on the Russian as he attempts to win the unified lightweight championship. A win for Khabib at UFC 242 would mean Conor McGregor would double down on challenging him. It will be interesting to see how things go from here! Stay tuned.
