Counter-Strike 2 was officially announced by Valve this March. Fans were excited and eagerly waiting for a new CS game and the announcement came out of nowhere.
Counter-Strike 2 is scheduled to arrive on various platforms, but will there be a console version?
Stick around to find out what we know so far.
The Counter-Strike 2 trailer flaunts a brilliant new game
Valve has been teasing the new Counter-Strike game for nearly a month, and we are impressed. The fresh version of Valve’s iconic first-person shooter brings in a surplus of crucial gameplay changes, visual upgrades, and system improvements.
The CS 2 trailer shows off redesigned audio, rebuilt maps, reworked smoke grenades, and the complete removal of the tick rate. Counter-Strike 2 will easily fulfill its promise of being “the largest technical leap forward in Counter-Strike’s history.” The game’s developer team claims that the game will include new features and updates that are going to stick around for ‘years to come’. Remember that the predecessor to CS 2 came out over a decade ago; therefore, it seems fairly likely that the latest installment will stick around for at least another decade.
PC gamers have a chance to play the demo
PC gamers are quite lucky. Since March 22, lucky PC gamers have been invited to check out the new CS 2 game. Though with almost random access, a range of popular personalities and pro players alike have even been missing out early on.
After weeks of rumors and leaks, Counter-Strike 2 was officially announced by Valve yesterday and aiming to release in the Summer of 2023 for PC only.

But are console players as lucky as PC gamers? Well, sadly, no. PlayStation and Xbox Console owners will not be able to play the latest Counter-Strike installment, at least not now.
Counter-Strike 2 is not coming to consoles
Counter-Strike 2 is releasing as a free upgrade for CS: GO. And while CS: GO is available on consoles such as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, it doesn’t look like the new CS 2 installment is available on any of these consoles.
As per reports by Dextero, Counter-Strike 2 on consoles looks unlikely. Although a few players have been invited to try the game for PC, Windows specifically, it doesn’t seem like there will ever be a console game now or even in the future since CS 2 is being offered as an upgrade for CS: GO.
And although CS: GO was originally released on the PS3 and Xbox 360, it never made it to the PS4 or Xbox Series X/S, which implies that players won’t be able to access its upcoming upgrade.
Of course, things can change between now, and the release date, but Valve hasn’t hinted at the game coming to any platform besides PC.
Counter-Strike 2 Release Date
We don’t know much about the release date of CS 2. The game should release in a few months, preferably by July or August. Until then, keep your fingers crossed and hope that the game will someday be available on consoles.
