Currently, there are a lot of protests going on in the US. Some for the taking down of statues, some for the trending hashtag #JusticeForBlackLives, etc. In a similar incident, a couple was filmed pointing guns at the protestors in the city as the group marched toward the mayor’s home to demand that she resign.
A video circulated on social media platforms that have made the netizens go crazy. In the video, the couple was standing outside their large house in the upscale Central West End neighborhood of the city and pointing guns at passing protesters. This incident took place when protestors marched towards Mayor Lyda Krewson’s home. They chanted “Resign Lyda, take the cops with you”.
A Twitter user shared the video and captioned it as follows:
“A couple has come out of their house and is pointing guns at protesters in their neighborhood”.

Another user wrote, “here’s what happens when you march on Portland Place in St. Louis, MO they’re scared of their own community”.
According to sources, the resignation of Mayor Lyda Krewson came after one of her Facebook Lives. In her video, she read the names and addresses of numerous residents who had written letters. The letters suggested she defund the police department. However, she subsequently removed the video from her profile. Mayor Krewson issued an apology, saying that she didn’t “intend to cause distress.”
Though the names and letters are considered as a public record. Thus, Mayor Lyda’s actions sparked an angry backlash. More than 43,000 people signed a petition that called for her resignation. And this further led to the protest.
