The Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024 nominees have been published, but this time around, fans are disappointed with the selection procedure. Many have criticized the awards for being prejudiced and repetitive, with some underrated anime shows being overlooked. Fans are upset that the nomination list has not changed significantly from past years despite the increasing popularity of lesser-known anime series.
Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024: Fans Are Not Happy With This Year’s Nomination List
The Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024 has had a repetitive approach toward its nomination, with Attack On Titan, Spy x Family, or Jujutsu Kaisen being the common factor of this award show. Fans are especially criticizing Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, being on the list every year, and this time, the patience of the fans broke all the barriers as Nezuko’s voice artist, Abby Trott, was nominated under the category of Best Voice Artist Performance (English).
It’s amusing that throughout the first three seasons of Demon Slayer, Nezuko’s dialogue consisted exclusively of adorable sounds conveying varied emotions. However, she did not always display these sentiments, as she was generally shown taking action to save her brother, Tanjiro. Fans may look forward to Nezuko finally speaking in the next Hashira Training Arc movie.
My biggest issue with the Crunchyroll Anime Awards is that their nomination period is so skewed
Shows like Chainsaw Man and SxF S1 are getting nominated in 2024 when they full well finished airing in 2022. Fall shows always get passed over bc nominations “end” after the summer.… pic.twitter.com/XkYgSB1k25

Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024: Underrated Anime Series That Should Have Been In The Limelight According To The Fans
While there have been repetitions of nominees, fans feel 2023 had quite a few underrated anime series that Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024 missed out on. For instance, many fans believe Crunchyroll should have nominated Bocchi The Rock for Best Art Direction. Bocchi had been nominated in practically every category, but fans were surprised when it was not recognized in the category for which it is most known!
Another reason why people aren’t taking the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024 seriously is because Bleach TYBW Cour 2 has received no nominations this year. Despite the series making the most significant comeback of the year, fans were shocked to learn that Crunchyroll has not included Bleach TYBW Cour 2 in any of the categories. This has further caused the fanbase to lose hope for the Crunchyroll Anime Award 2024.
Fans have similar feelings about Heavenly Delusion and Mob Psycho 100, which did not even get three nominations this year. However, fans are satisfied that Mob Psycho 100 is at least under the list of Best Animation if not in the list of Anime of the Year.
Final Thoughts:
This brings us to the question: Is Crunchyroll, the largest streaming website for various mangas and animes, really getting biased towards certain animes due to losing rights to other streaming platforms? Fans are voicing their dissatisfaction with the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024, stating that it has become nothing more than a popularity battle and that its significance is declining owing to an over-dependence on fan votes.
Many fans are skeptical of this year’s nomination list, which appears to have neglected some underrated anime programs in favor of major Shonen series that dominate the industry.
